Gipfel Kamet range of tents are a step up from one of our oldest and most popular Fira series. There are some similarities between Firas and Kamets but given below is how Kamets are different from Fira series.
Kamet tents have two doors and two vestibules as opposed to one door and one vestibule in Fira series.
The inner tent in Kamet series has 2 layers of doors (no-see-um mesh and Nylon) whereas the Fira has one layer of door. The double layer is especially helpful in cold weather.
The outer tent goes low enough to make this a 4 seasons tent
The Peak Height is 8 cms more than Fira series, so that means more head room and a bit better ventilation
Finally, the biggest difference is that despite being bigger than Fira, Kamet tents due to design and materials used, are 10-15% lighter than Fira tents.
Kamet tent is a sturdy dome tent with 2 doors and 2 vestibules. The tent is generously ventilated and has large head room. The tent is easy to setup and comes with 9.5 mm Aviation grade aluminium poles. The webbing are Nylon 6,6 and the zippers are YKK (no. 8) that will not jam even in frigid weather.
The outer rainfly and groundsheet are fully seam taped and then tested under heavy rain. The ground sheet is bathtub style with minimal seams and reinforced stress points.
Four Seasons, Four-person, Tunnel type tent with double vestibules, including one extra large vestibule and a generous ventilation.
Norra Plus series is designed for all seasons use. The Plus series of Norra features very large vestibule (almost as big as the inner tent) keeping but at the same time using ultra light materials to achieve the lightest weight possible. The textiles, accessories and poles were chosen keeping weight in mind.
The interiors of this tent are expansive and airy. The tent is built to withstand rain and snow. This Norra tents are perfect for use in base camps and by alpinists who need extra large vestibules.
Savanna series offers classic dome design at a budget for camping and commercial operations. They are similar in design to our popular Fira series.
Savanna series is designed for three-season usage, and can also be extended to mild winters.
The Fibreglass poles offers generous stability, and the interiors are expansive and airy. The tent is built to withstand heavy downpours of rain, and even light snow. The materials are of high quality. They are slightly heavier than the materials of Fira series but very durable and more rugged than the Fira series.
Unlike most tents in this range and specification that use Fiber glass poles, Savanna series use Aviation Grade Aluminium poles.
The assembly instructions of Savanna 3, Savanna 4, Fira 3 and Fira 4 are identical.
Fira series of tents are designed for 3-season usage but we have tested it diligently even at an altitude of 5,000 meters and it performed amazingly well. If you are looking for a high-quality light-weight tent with self-contained stability and 3-season weather-proofness, this is your tent.
The interiors of this tent are ample for two persons. The tent is built to withstand heavy downpours of rain and even snow. The tent features aviation grade Aluminium poles in a classic X-pole dome type arrangement. The FIRA 3 and 4 persons also feature a very large vestibule.
The tent is also built with very durable materials that can take a lot of rough use and UV- exposure.
Fira is an all rounder tent and one of the most loved tents.
